Haller was bad, like pretty much everyone else.

Lets see what he does Saturday, he has well in league so far, even when not scoring.

My only question would be if Holland earned a chance to replace Fornals. I would hate to do that to Fornals but...

Haller is not a typical striker. You will not often see him just standing 5m away from goal and waiting for a cross like chicharito for instance. He has great passing skills for his height and is always looking where his teammates are. He is literally the reason why has jovic scored so many goals last season. When you have a player like that up front your game becomes much more fluid and that is certainly one of the reasons why we play much faster then we did last season. He definitely is slow but his link up play is amazing and that's why i can't wait for manu and arthur to return. Unfortunately, we can't repeat that norwich performance with cress and fornals in our starting lineup.

If we had worn our lucky claret shorts, things might have turned out differently.

This is in no way slagging him off, because ive seen enough from him to know he'll be a fine player for us.

But, i also thought that the last two league game Haller hasn't done much in terms of being a goal threat.

Still early days though, you have to remember also, that as well as getting used to new teammates and a new way of playing, he's also a young bloke with his family coming over from a foreign country.

We tend to forget the human aspects of players as if they're just machines that perform at the drop of a hat.

I know they're all overpaid cunts - but they're still only overpaid human cunts.

Razzle - I'm not convinced with Haller either, naturally that will offend some on here, but he seems a bit lumbersome to me and not that mobile. Not seen him get many shots away either? Seems to be a bit of an fashioned number 9 who plays with his back to the goal a lot rather than on defenders shoulders. Let's see how he looks tomorrow.

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
First half we played it like a training game, Wilshere got on the ball and played some sweeping passes but we were blunt up top.
The injury-prone Oxford centre half went off for the introduction of Sykes and that was the turning point. Sykes ran Masuaku ragged which eventually culminated in a goal.
West Hams reaction one of two shots on goal the entire game came from Fornals whose header was straight at the keeper. He was largely anonymous.

Long story short is that the premier leagues ego got twatted by a lower league team that had more hunger and desire and were rightly rewarded with the win.

We lack pace up top and Haller for me the jury is still out and if he gets injured then the options are zero.

It was an embarrassing performance and if they are anywhere near that level on Saturday Eddie Howe will be licking his lips with an easy 3 points to be had....

After that result,I expect a real effort this weekend, after the presumed manager bollocking.

a difficult 2-1 away win at Bournemouth this weekend is what i expect.

That result right there in a bloody cup game is why I sometimes hate being a West ham fan.

I’m sick of hearing “ it’s the West Ham way “.
We should be comfortably beating Oxford whatever team we put out and don’t forget we were only 1-0 down when Haller and Anderson came on .
I think our position in the table is airbrushing some real problems . Some real poor performances all round last night and I get the feeling the players are being told not to bust a gut in this competition. If so , let the fans know so they can stop wasting their money .
We are a couple of injuries away from imploding!
Bournemouth now becomes a real test of character. Let’s hope they are up for it .

I looked at that side and thought it was more than enough to do a job on oxford.
First team back four + Wiltshire snodgrass and fornals

AOI, would that be the Chilean arsehole who has us in 5th place and (until last night) has us playing exciting attacking football?

You can keep making up scenarios all you want, but making stuff was what you made the mistake of doing in the first place.

I defended your right to say what you want on here a few days ago, the problem (for you) I guess is that does also means another posters can point out when what you say is ignorant.

I am sure we will exchange words again, mate. Have a great evening.

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
So, both managers were under the same pressures were they?
If Oxford were beaten 4-0 last night would the fallout have been the same? Of course it wouldn’t!
